In this witty, modern-day retelling of the classic Greek myth, the Greek Chorus made up of the Rabbi, the Lawyer, and the Priest attempts to tell the story of Theseus’s murder of the Minotaur with the help of his half-sister, Ariadne. Over the course of the play, the Minotaur challenges the rest of the characters (as well as the audience) to consider their role in making him a monster, and therefore their complicity in his violence. After his death, Ariadne, previously resigned to re-living the story of her betrayal, realizes that she has the power to change the fate of herself and others; together with Theseus, she abandons the chorus’s narrative and creates her own ending.
